MARKETING
YOURSELF - SELF PROMOTION TIPS
You
need to start with a good logo, a good website
and preferable a good tag line.
So you've heard
it over and over. You need to market yourself.
Here are some tips and how to's, offline and
online.
1. Put your logo
and web address on EVERY piece of stationary
or product including invoices, letterheads,
business cards, flyers, pens, etc. Even
if you donate products or give away promotional
items, make sure all items have your stamp
on it.
2. Word of mouth
starts with you. Talk about yourself
and your company. If people don't know what
you do, how do you expect them to ask for
your product or service? Don't forget to
repeat yourself. People don't always listen
the first time. That's why commercials are
played over and over.
3. Create loyalty
by following up on your clients. Offer
"free stuff" such as coupons and
newsletters (information).
- Don't forget to
be confident. Believe in yourself. People
can sense insecurity.
- Know your goals.
Focus on what you're saying so people
know what you're selling.
- Tell the truth.
If you exaggerate, clients will never
believe you and will not be repeat customers.
Remember, you need to live up to your
promises. You'll have more negative press
if you say you can build a mountain and
you give them a hill.
- Do not discriminate
when promoting yourself. Everybody knows
somebody who does something. The person
you're talking to might not need your
services right now but might know someone
who does.
- Promote the value
of your product. Show them that they're
getting their money's worth, not how much
they're spending. Quality should not defined
by quantity.
4. Join online communities
and forums. Add your name and website
to all your messages.
5. Submit your site
to search engines and keep it up to date.
Make sure your site is search engine ready
first. >>>
