The purpose of this WEB checklist is to better get an idea of what you would like, want and need.

This checklist allows you to get an idea of what is required to start this kind of project and what it takes to complete it. It also helps to design according to what is appropriate to your company.

1. What is the primary industry or focus of the web site?
2. List competitor's in the industry (including web sites) and what you like and dislike about this site?

Your Target Market (audience)

1. What kind of visitors do you want to attract? (age group, lifestyle, attitudes, etc.)
2. What kind of browser or platform are they on?
3. What kind of sites do they visit?
4. Why do you want loyal visitors of your competitor's site to become your loyal visitor?
5. What do you think you need to make them loyal?
6. What do you consider a "perfect" visit? What do you want them to see and feel before they go?

The Project

1. What is the purpose of the site? (Direct sales, marketing, informational, intranet, etc.)
2. What do you want the visitor to think and feel when they're on your site?
3. Is this image consistent with your company's current image?
4. What features do you think your site will need? (shopping cart, SSL, Audio/Video, Message Boards, etc.)
5. What services do you think you'll need for the web site? (Logo design - redesign, web site promotion and marketing, web site hosting, traffic statistics and analysis, maintenance once the site is launched, other)
6. Content. Do you need someone to copywrite the text or will it be done in house?
7. Do you have a domain name or do you need to purchase one?
8. How do you plan to recover the costs of the web site? (Direct sales, advertising revenue, membership fees, reduced costs - site makes business processes more efficient, do not plan to recover costs, other)

Rank the following by importance. 1 - 2 - 3 (1 being the most important)

___ Launching the site quickly
___ Having a quality web site

1. What is your budget for this project?
2. What is the price you want to pay for this project?
3. What is the desired launch date?
4. Where does this date derive from?

Personal Preferences

1. Name some sites you visit often.
2. Name some of the sites you enjoy and why you like it.
3. Name some of the sites you dislike and why you dislike it.
4. What do you consider a successful web site?
5. How do you measure success?
6. Write comments and feedback that are not on these lists that you consider pertinent.
